We Covet California Chocolate

SeesorgyAs a transplanted Californian that is returning to my native habitat for this obscure conference in San Francisco next week, there is one food stuff at the top of my covet list:

See's Candy.  The famous San Francisco company has been making the best American boxed chocolates for almost 90 years.

There are no See's shops on the East Coast, to my dismay.  So if you see me lurking around the See's stand in the United terminal of SFO drooling, please look away.  Or gently remind me that the delicious chocolates can always be purchased online around Christmas, when the wreckage of a date with nuts and chews can be more easily hidden beneath cords and a sweater.

2 lb. box $30 @ See's.com

Help-ful Products We Covet

Home_headache Besides having the most kick-ass packaging design evah, these tiny, handy Help remedy kits are made from 100% recycled wood pulp. (Well besides the actual remedy part, which one assumes you'll ingest anyway.) The packaging is actually *compostable*, fer crissakes!

Comes in Help I Have A Headache and Help I've Cut Myself varieties. You know what they really need though, don't you? Help I Have My Period. Oh yeah, you heard me.

Vintage 1970s Lighting We Covet

Avery_noll_light I see this smoked glass orb hanging light from the '70s and am immediately transported to the foyer of my childhood home.  I can smell my grandmother's Charlie perfume and hear the opening bars of my Mickey Mouse Disco record.

I covet this globe light fixture so much it aches.  I love that this ultra cool lighting is the real deal, not a bad mall shop facsimile.  The only new addition is the replaced Greek key trim.  I long to buy this and flick the light switch on and off while singing "Macho Macho Duck."

Large Smoked Glass Hanging Globe Light $120 @ Avery Noll

We Covet Delicate Little Birdies That Will Perch On Our Ears

Wcsparrowearrings I don't ordinarily wear earrings, but I would totally wear these, because they are just so freaking adorable that I could almost weep. Teeny little sparrows! For your ears! Aaaaawwww...

That said, my toddler would probably yank them right out of my ears shrieking BIRDY! which is highly undesirable, but still. I'd want to wear them.

Sparrow Earrings, $80.00 @ CatbirdNYC

We Covet Things That We Can Usually ONLY Covet

Ring     I love love love this ring.  The ring has an emerald-cut green quartz in sterling silver. Carat total weight 9.00.  Sounds like a lot of carats, but this isn't a a diamond, so it isn't quite a bazillion dollars.  We are in Las Vegas right now and I drooled all over the counter coveting this baby.  It is just so pretty and well, pretty, but subdued and not all flashy.  I like that is is modern, but someone blingy at the same time.  Oh give me a home.  Thats right baby, my left hand can give you a home.

Coveting Things That Make Our Coffee Better

Sugardaddy I bought this adorable sugar dispenser and creamer a few months or so ago and everyone wants to know where got it when I ask if y'all want some Sugar Daddy in yer cappuccino.  I  love it, my friends covet it, one friend so much I bough it for her.  I am sure her Sugar Daddy will find a good home on her counter top as well.  This cream and sugar dispenser comes from a family of butter keepers and salt and pepper shakers.  Of course because I do in fact covet, I really need to complete my set.  Silly coveting!! Sugar Daddy and Coco, Pepe & Friends Cream and Sugar Characters, $20.00 and $30.00 @ uncommongoods.com

We Covet New Ways To Enjoy Liquor

Wcheartflask376 Toting around your own liquor ain't easy. Flasks are just too obvious, no?  And paper  bags are just so, I don't know, low-rent.  But this little Tin-Man-style heart flask? Discreet, and pretty. It says, I love drinking, but not so much that I ever forget to be cute! Which, you know, is really what we're all aiming for, right?

(I kid. DRINK RESPONSIBLY. Which is to say, in moderation, and out of a cute flask.)

Love Canteen, $39.95 @ Delight.com

We Covet Getting Towed

Tow_truck

This wooden toy truck by D and Me almost makes me rethink my position of devout urban tow truck hater.  The handcrafted wooden vehicle is made from natural hardwoods and covered in a child-safe oiled finish.  Eco-savvy and sturdy, its cuteness has captured me in spite of my tow loathing. Toy wooden boot clamp not included.
