Perfect 10 DVD We Covet

NadiaIf you were a kid during the 1984 Olympics you knew all about MaryLou, Béla Károlyi and how Béla trained a previous champion, Nadia Comaneci.  This movie, Nadia, epitomizes the gloriously bad '80s made-for-TV-movie based on a true story.

As a girl I learned all the floor routines in this movie, even though I was pudgy and had never taken a gymnastics glass.  But boy, did I have dreams.

I still have my old VHS tape of this classic movie, complete with commercials of Bill Cosby shilling Puddin' Pops.  The tape has it's charm, but now I can share the story of the first perfect 10 in women's gymnastics with my kids, dinner party guests, senior citizen neighbors and YOU in digital style.

We Covet Totally Pimped Out Rides

Wc2007_cougar_2_red_silver_grey Seriously, people? This stroller has changed my life and I have only had it three days. It strolls, it jogs, it attaches to bicycles, and - if you are super-sickeningly fit and outdoorsy - it SKIS. The best thing, though? It fits two children, and tucks them in all cozy alongside UV-protected anti-glare windows and bounces them along on weight-adjustable suspension, and makes them fall asleep in under five minutes.

Also, it's super-light, it collapses flat, and can be steered with one hand. And it comes with a cappucino-maker and will make you look ten pounds lighter. Okay, maybe not those last two, but still! AWESOME.

We Covet Groovy Shoes

Stringrepublic String Republic makes these graphic espadrilles as an alternative to the flip flop or clog.  Look, I only wear my Crocs in the garden, ask anyone!  Stéphane Bucco, a graphic artist, known as Sockho,  created STRING REPUBLIC in 2004 to illustrate what happens when "graphic arts and daily life merge".  They apparently merge into bold colourful shoes and gonch/underpants.  The website is a little vague on materials used , but I am assuming they use canvas and rubber and twine, like a classic espadrille.  Whether you are a sk8tergrl or just someone who wants some interesting footwear, I dig these.

Bastille Day Parfum We Covet

Fragonard_parfum_solidsMy sis-in-law introduced me to Fragonard Parfum Solids when she returned from teaching in Europe.  And like my SIL, these babies are both chic and practical.

The inch-and-a-half round little pots pack all the punch of a big atomizer and are ideal for travel.  I love all the classic scents that are made from French flowers and herbs.

I also like buying a six pack, breaking it open and sticking one or two in a birthday card to a gal pal because I'm cool like that.

We Covet Kaboost

Wckaboost2 Okay, so this thing is seriously cool. It's a seat booster that does its boosting from underneath the chair, so that you don't have to fuss around with rinky-dink booster seats - or, worse, big ugly plastic high-chairs - that get all crudded up with banana and Cheerios and which never seemed that sturdy and anyway are totally useless when you have a child (*cough*) who refuses to sit in anything other than a 'big chair.' It fits onto the bottom of the chair - it's totally secure, and even has, like, anti-skid traction action - and elevates it to close to stool height, so the kids can sit in a grown-up chair and still reach the table. Or, so that you can convert your dining room chairs to bar chairs and play Martini Lounge after the kids have been put down to bed. Just a suggestion.

(Also? It fits any chair, it's portable, and it comes in cool colors. Beats a Stokke any day, for serious.)

And! This week, it's our giveway! Just leave comments on any and all posts and at the end of the week we'll do a random draw for a winnah! Who'll get a Kaboost! COOL.

Kaboost, $37.95 @ Kaboost
