Champagne Glasses We Covet

Insideout_champagne_glasses I LOVE Champagne. In fact, now that I think about it, one of the factors that motivated my husband and I to return to school to increase our earning potential is so we could afford to buy Veuve Clicquot on a semi-regular basis. And I know that when drinking Champagne, I should hold the flute by the stem so that the bubbly does not get warm. But I'm far too clumsy for that. These ingenious glasses would let me get a decent grip on my drink without warming up the delicious contents.

We Covet the Philco PC

Philco_pc David Schultze of SchultzeWORKS thought that only design and gadget nerds would really care about his firm's award-winning Philco PC, a computer designed to look like the 1954 Philco Predicta TV. But news of the gorgeous design quickly spread and now there is an incredibly high demand. Unfortunately, these images are still only 3-D renderings, but Schultze says that they are in talks with PC manufacturers to see if this could become a reality. We here at WeCovet would really like to see this happen!

We Covet Garfield Minus Garfield

Garfield_minus_garfield  Dan Walsh started his webcomic, Garfield Minus Garfield, several years ago. The concept was simple: remove the lasagna-loving feline from his eponymous comic strips, revealing a darker (and goofier) side of his owner, Jon Arbuckle. The site struck a chord and remains a huge success. Some of the best examples of Walsh's erasing skills were compiled into a book, which you can display on your coffee table and cause unsuspecting house guests to experience some existential anguish. Win!

We Covet Fiestaware- To Wear!

Fiesta_necklaces I previously featured Juliet and her amazing jewelry and accessories at The Broken Plate Pendant Company almost one year ago here on We Covet and she has gone and amazed me again! I mean, who wouldn't want to have a little Fiesta on their chest?

Juliet has taken some of the most beautiful and most-coveted dishes known to the world- Fiesta® Dinnerware- and turned them into perfect little circles of eye-popping color. Currently she has them in Scarlet Red, Tangerine Orange, Sunflower Yellow, Lemongrass Green, Turquoise Blue, Plum, and my favorites- Peacock Blue and Shamrock Green! They come set in sterling silver and securely anchored to a 16" sterling silver chain (which can be made longer by request). Is there a more perfectly unique accessory for the coming Spring?

We Covet A Really Cool Pen Gadget

Pulse-smartpen Outside of my regular blogging gigs, I am a freelance writer for magazines. I conduct many of my interviews over the phone, but some of them are in person. I record all of my interviews and take notes so that I can create a piece that best conveys to my readers a sense of the person behind the words that I write. I also have a 9 to 5 which requires me to attend many meetings, during which I take notes of important details and action items. The Pulse Smartpen from Livescribe might just be the most perfect writing tool for someone like me. The pen and its companion paper records whatever you are listening to (meeting, speech, interview, etc.) and a camera in the pen tracks everything that you write. And those are just a few of the features. Extremely cool and useful.

We Covet the Beater Blade

Beater_blade Technically, I'm not really coveting this anymore because I received it for Christmas. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't covet it. Most home cooks and bakers swear by the KitchenAid stand mixer for its durability and overall level of awesome. But it can be pretty tedious to stop the mixing every so often to scrape down the sides with a spatula. The Beater Blade snaps in the place of your regular paddle and the rubber sides do the scraping for you. Absolutely genius. If you purchase one, make sure you're getting the right model for your mixer!

We Covet Herbivorous Drinking Vessels

Melk_mugsWell, maybe not. But did you know that it's the 20th anniversary of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? And did you know that I gave these iconic mugs to my husband for Christmas this morning? Well, now you do. There are several opportunities to buy the moose/elk mugs that Clark and Eddie sipped eggnog from in that cult Christmas classic. But this one is the most affordable. And, really, if my husband had woken up with his head sewn to the carpet, he wouldn't have been more surprised.

We Covet The Slanket. Yeah, That's Right!

Pirate_MED Yes, I am fully aware that many of you think The Slanket (and Snuggie) are not covet-worthy. You are wrong! Wrong, I tell you! Look at this! It is black with skulls! And it is called "Walk the Slank" which I think is hilarious, if a little silly. Did you know it also comes in 13 solid colors and 3 other prints? That it's completely machine washable? And approved by the Better Business Bureau? Am I trying too hard?

Mostly I think it looks WARM and I am a cold lady in need of warm. If I can look slightly cooler while being warm then all the better. (Props to Miss Banshee and MamaPop for showing me the light!)

"Walk The Slank" $37.99 (now on sale for $32.99) @TheSlanket.com

We Covet a Reminder of What We Were Drinking

Onrockstray  The holidays are, arguably, a time for a little conspicuous consumption of gifts, food, and drink. And sometimes things can get a little out of hand. Now, if you find yourself in the embarrassing situation of not being able to remember what you need a refill of, your ice can remind you. Drink stirrers are frozen within "gin," "rum," "vodka," or "scotch" molds.

We Covet 40 Years Of Christmas Classics - GIVEAWAY! (UPDATED)

Frosty Thumpity, thump, thump!  Look at Frosty go!

Frosty’s 40!  The story of how everyone’s favorite snowman magically came to life on Christmas Day, “Frosty the Snowman” has signified the arrival of winter since his TV debut in 1969—and he’s still melting hearts!  The series remains one of the most popular animated holiday TV specials of all time. To celebrate, Classic Media is inviting kids and families to “chill out” with Frosty, Rudolph, and Santa with the ultimate holiday DVD gift set: The Original Christmas Classics Limited Keepsake Edition.

The box set contains seven of the most beloved holiday TV specials of all time, including the Rankin/Bass classics “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” and “The Little Drummer Boy,” among others.

I am also turning 40 this year.  I have the box set and it is awesome, My daughter has been watching them over and over.  I wasn't sure if they would stand the test of time for kids who watch current animated shows.  I still tear up when Frosty Melts and during "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town", I giggle like crazy over Burgermeister Meisterburger. HA! Stop motion animation with a dancing Fred Astaire!  Fantastic.

Classic Media is providing this festive and entertaining giveaway.  Leave a comment letting us know which of the shows you remember or love the most, or favourite characters (I love the little girl from "Frosty the Snowman").  We will pick one winner in a week's time!

AND WE HAVE A WINNER! (better late than never, right?)

Congratulations to Michelle at Cynically Optimistic & Optimistically Bitter who was randomly picked by BaltimoreGal a few days later than expected but hopefully will be forgiving since she did win after all. JenB will be getting in touch with you soon to work out the details!

We Covet Warm Hands

MuttensAny of my dog-owning peeps out there will agree that walking a dog in cold weather is not the most pleasant task. The most unpleasant factor, in my opinion, is that gloves really get in the way of the business of, well, cleaning up the dog's business. This causes some seriously cold, cracked, dry hands.

"Muttens" are the solution! They're retractable fleece mittens with a top flap that covers your fingers, yet can be flipped open and pushed back when the need arises. This gives you the ability to easily scoop poop, as well as get a treat, find your keys, or answer the phone. They have grips on the palm side to help with grasping things, or you can hold your leash inside your Muttens for more control. You're even able to fit a retractable leash in there if you get the larger size.

We Covet a Pretty and Environmentally-Friendly Lunchbox

Green-insulated-tiffin-bag The folks at Happy Tiffin created their products based on lunchboxes that are commonly used in India. In Mumbai, workers called "dabbawalas" use an ingenious but complex system to deliver home-cooked lunches to workers in the city. The Happy Tiffin lunchboxes are stainless steel and available in a variety of sizes and shapes that are latched together. You can also purchase insulated bags that keep your foods hot or cold.
